Fishing
Cast into a fishing area, wait 20 seconds and pull at the right moment. With bait you land a catch eight times more often than without.
Fishing is one of the calmest trades on the island, and one of the few that gives you food, money and a shot at a legendary relic at once.
#How to unlock it
Nothing special: with a rod, inside a fishing area, you can fish. Your first lesson comes from Adrian Pescobur, through the quest The First Catch.
#Where you can fish
Not any puddle will do. Three conditions are active on the live server:
- real water under the float;
- a fishing area defined by staff;
- you must be near a fishing spot — at most 10 blocks away.
If you're too far, the game tells you exactly how many blocks off you are. Fishing spots are marked along the shore.
#Equipping the rod and attaching bait
- Hold the rod in your main hand.
- Hold the bait in your off-hand.
- Press Shift + right-click.
The bait stays attached until it runs out. One piece is consumed per cast.
#How a cast works
- You cast. The camera goes cinematic and your character stays put while fishing.
- 2 false bites come before the real one. Don't pull at the first movement.
- The real bite arrives after 400 ticks = 20 seconds.
- Pull at the right moment.
Your chance to land something on the bite:
| Situation | Catch chance |
|---|---|
| With bait | 80 % |
| No bait | 10 % |
That's the core of the system: on a bare hook you pull eight times as long for the same fish.
#Fishing with vs. without bait
It isn't just the chance that changes — what you catch changes too. The tables below are the ones live in game:
| What you catch | No bait | Simple Bait | Salted Meat | Glowing Bait |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Junk | 20 % | 5 % | 4 % | 1 % |
| Common fish | 77 % | 70 % | 36 % | 21 % |
| Rare fish | 2.7 % | 20 % | 30 % | 35 % |
| Epic fish | 0.3 % | 4.5 % | 17 % | 25 % |
| Golden Fish | impossible | 0.45 % | 2.8 % | 8 % |
| Legendary Hilt | impossible | 0.05 % | 0.2 % | 2 % |
#The baits
| Bait | What it does |
|---|---|
| Simple Bait | Shorter wait (×0.78). The basic bait, easy to make. |
| Red Worm | Boosts common (×1.4) and rare (×1.6) fish. |
| River Insect | The shortest wait (×0.75). |
| Salted Meat | Longer wait (×1.45) and 3 false bites, but far heavier catches — epic fish ×1.5. |
| Glowing Bait | The rarest. 25 % chance not to be consumed and the only one with 2 % at legendary. |

#Fish rarities

|---|---|---|---|
| Junk | Wet Boot, Algae, Wet Branch, Empty Crate | 0 | — |

| Common (dangerous) | Poisonous Fish | 2 | 6 seconds of poison |
| Rare | Rare Fish | 3 | +12 stamina |
| Epic | Epic Fish | 6 | +24 stamina |
| Golden | Golden Fish | 25 | +40 stamina |

#Weight, size and quality
Every fish gets three properties of its own when caught:
- weight in kg (a Common Fish: 0.3–1.6 kg; a Golden Fish: 2–4.5 kg);
- size in cm (14–42 cm for common, 40–70 cm for golden);
- quality: Poor, Normal or Prime.
Prime quality appears only with the good baits — Salted Meat and Glowing Bait. On a bare hook you almost only get Poor.
#Rewards
- Fishing profession progress on every catch — see Professions.
- Fisher's pay, starting at 2 coins per catch and rising with the fish's value.
- Good fish are sold to traders or used in cooking.
- On a legendary catch, the whole server gets an announcement.
#Restrictions
- You can't fish outside fishing areas.
- You can't fish from more than 34 blocks away from your float.
- You can't start a second session while one runs ("You're already fishing").
- Leaving the area mid-session closes it.
