Bait
Five baits, each a different trade-off between waiting time and catch quality. Without bait you can never land golden or legendary.
Bait is the single most important decision in Fishing. It doesn't just raise your chance from 10 % to 80 % — it unlocks rarity tiers that otherwise don't exist at all.
#How to unlock it
You get Simple Bait from Adrian Pescobur during The First Catch. Worms are gathered in Worm Digging areas with your interact key.
#How it works
A bait changes three things:
- Waiting time — a multiplier on the base 20 seconds.
- The loot table — which rarities can appear, and at what percentage.
- Sometimes, a chance not to be consumed.
#The five baits
| Bait | Wait | What it boosts | Can be kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Simple Bait | ×0.78 | balanced, unlocks every tier | no |
| Red Worm | ×1.00 | common fish ×1.4, rare fish ×1.6 | no |
| River Insect | ×0.75 | the fastest | no |
| Salted Meat | ×1.45 | epic fish ×1.5; 3 false bites | no |
| Glowing Bait | ×1.00 | everything, up to 2 % legendary | 25 % |
#What to pick, when
- Volume, fast → River Insect. The most casts per hour.
- Steady money → Red Worm. The most sellable fish.
- Epic fish → Salted Meat. Longer waits, but 17 % epic instead of 4.5 %.
- The relic → Glowing Bait. The only one where legendary is realistic.
- Nothing else → Simple Bait. Still eight times better than a bare hook.
#Restrictions
- Attached only with Shift + right-click, rod in main hand, bait in off-hand.
- One piece per cast.
- You can't combine two baits.
