The tree system
Fellable trees are objects with a tier, a visible notch and a physical fall — separate from the scenery forest around them.
This article is about trees as objects. For the woodcutter's trade, see Woodcutting.
#The forestry registry
There are two kinds of tree on the map:
- trees in the forestry registry — fellable, with a tier, a notch and a physical fall;
- the ordinary forest — scenery. No channel starts on it.
The split is deliberate: otherwise the whole map would be exploitable and the forest would vanish in days.
#Tiers
| Tier | Logs at full harvest | Special material |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 2 | — |
| 2 | 3 | resin ×1–2 |
| 3 | 4 | resin ×1–2 (+5 % Forest Sprite) |
| 4 | 6 | imperial wood ×1 |
| 5 | 8 | hard essence ×1 |
#The notch
While someone is chopping, a V-shaped notch appears in the trunk, through 8 depth stages. It's visible to every player, not just the chopper — so you can tell from a distance that a tree is "in progress".
#The trunk falling
At the end the trunk actually falls, with a block-display animation.
The server allows at most 4 trees falling at once. It's a technical cap: beyond it the animations would be too heavy.
#Branches, twigs and logs
After the fall, logs remain on the ground. Each is bucked with 2 hits and gives a "Raw Log" bundle.
#Regrowth
The tree comes back after 240–480 seconds.
#Safety
- The fallen harvest is reserved for you for ~5 minutes — nobody can take it.
- The channel cancels if you're hit, so you can't be "trapped" in an animation during an attack.
